The Inauguration ceremony of the 2022/2023 intake of students to the National Diploma in Technology program of the Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa took place on 19th September 2023 via virtual platform. The Director of the Institute, Major General (Retd.) S.K. Thirunavukarusu, members of the Board of Management of ITUM, the Heads of the academic divisions and the members of the academic staff, the Deputy Registrar of ITUM, the heads and staff of the non-academic divisions of ITUM and the new batch of students attended the ceremony.
The welcome speech was delivered by Mrs. Mangalika Kannangara, the Chairperson of the Inauguration and Orientation Committee, who warmly welcomed the students to the Institute.
Major General (Retd.) S.K. Thirunavukarusu, the Director of ITUM in his speech voiced his regrets for not being able to welcome the new students in person as was traditionally done in previous years and said that he was certain the students would make beautiful memories of their stay at the Institute. He reminded the students that what they do today would shape their future and hoped that the students would make the best out of their time at the Institute.
The Inauguration ceremony was followed by a three-day orientation programme organized for the students via virtual platform.
