The industry forum which was conducted on 29th November 2022 was the highlight of Career Fair 2022. The event was graced by academics, professionals, students and industry experts representing a wide spectrum of engineering fields. In his opening remarks, the Director of ITUM, Major General (Retired) S.K. Thirunavukarasu RSP VSV USP formally welcomed the audience. In his speech, the Director mentioned that the industry forum would be a platform that allows students, staff, and employers to build relationships and discuss opportunities for employment and internships.
The session on “How Engineering Disciplines are Interconnected with the Industry” made a lasting impression on the audience. The Additional General Manager, Distribution Division 01 of CEB, Eng. Mr. Jayavilal Meegoda, in his speech, stated that discipline and punctuality are the two most essential traits required in a professional to be successful. In his fascinating speech, Dr. Shantha Yapa, the Chief Commercial Officer of Affiniti Innovations highlighted the responsibility of university students on boosting the economy of Sri Lanka.
Mrs. D.W.D.R. Chathurangi, the Coordinator of the Industrial Training, Career Guidance, and Post Diploma Education Centre and the Head of Industrial Training, Career Guidance, and Post Diploma Education Centre of ITUM, Dr. (Mrs) Somarathne also addressed the gathering. The session ended with concluding remarks and the vote of thanks delivered by the Training Engineer of ITUM, Eng. Mr. Kamalnath Jinadasa.
