Network Laboratory Opening at ITUM

The Division of Information Technology at the Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa (ITUM), marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of its new Network Laboratory on 2nd of January 2025. The opening ceremony was graced by Major General (Retired) S.K. Thirunavukarasu, RSP, VSV, USP, the esteemed Director of ITUM, and Dr. K. Galappaththi, Head of the IT Division, who officially declared the facility open.

The event witnessed the participation of the Heads of all Divisions, reflecting the collaborative spirit and shared commitment to advancing academic and practical learning opportunities for students.

The newly established Network Laboratory, built at a cost of over 9 million Sri Lankan Rupees, is designed to provide IT students with hands-on experience in computer networks. This facility is equipped with modern networking equipment and tools, enabling students to engage in realworld simulations, enhance their problem-solving abilities, and prepare them to meet the demands of the evolving IT landscape.

This significant investment underscores ITUM’s dedication to creating an environment that supports innovative learning and professional development. Students and IT division alike are encouraged to leverage the facilities to explore, innovate, and excel in the field of computer networks.
