With unwavering dedication and exemplary leadership, Ms. Amali Weerakoon, Honorary President of the ITUM Staff Welfare Society, together with the Executive Committee, orchestrated the Pirith Chanting and Alms-Giving Ceremony at ITUM on December 13–14, 2024. Marking the first such event in nearly five years since March 2020, this grand spiritual gathering—organized in collaboration with the NDT Student Union—brought students and staff together for a deeply enriching religious experience.
The event was honored by the presence of Major General (Retired) S. K. Thirunavukarasu, Director of ITUM adding to the solemnity of the occasion. Designed to invoke blessings upon the ITUM community, the ceremony fostered spiritual well-being, unity, and harmony for the year ahead. The entire ITUM premises were transformed into a breathtaking spectacle, illuminated by dazzling lights and featuring an exquisitely crafted Pirith Mandapa.
The night resonated with the sacred chanting led by Venerable Senior Professor Magammana Pannananda Thero and a team of revered monks, elevating the spiritual ambiance to new heights. More than a religious observance, the event strengthened the bond between students and staff, reinforcing a culture of collaboration and devotion.
Ms. Weerakoon and the Executive Committee extend their heartfelt gratitude to all sponsors, contributors, and participants whose generosity and enthusiasm made this spiritually uplifting event a resounding success. Aligned with ITUM’s Strategic Management Plan, this initiative has left a lasting impression, cultivating a more harmonious and spiritually enriched environment for all who attended.
