International Mathematics Day Celebration

Celebrating the International Day of Mathematics 2025: "Mathematics, Art, and Creativity"

In honor of the International Day of Mathematics (IDM) on March 14, Semester I tutorial sessions for the Mathematics and Statistics module were themed around this year’s global focus “Mathematics, Art, and Creativity.”

To showcase and celebrate the ingenuity and imagination of our students, a special mini exhibition titled “Math + Art = Creativity” was held on Friday, March 14 at the Z0206 Computer Laboratory.

The exhibition featured an impressive range of student-created works that seamlessly blended mathematical concepts with artistic expression. Highlights included Mathematical Mind Maps, Derivative Art, Letter Designs Using Mathematical Functions, IDM-Themed Posters, Fractal and Polar Curve Designs, Math Poetry, and Math Games.

This inspiring event was initiated by Dr. (Mrs.) S.C. Mathugama and organized by the Mathematics and Statistics staff of the Division of Interdisciplinary Studies, under the guidance of Dr. (Mrs.) D.D.G.A.D.S. Saparamadu, Head of the Division. The exhibition was honored by the presence of the Director of ITUM, Major General (Retd.) S.K. Thirunavukarasu RSP VSV USP, along with Heads of Divisions, academic and non-academic staff, and students of ITUM.
