In celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa (ITUM), the ITUM Welfare Society took the lead in organizing a series of multi-religious activities under the guidance of the Director of ITUM, Rtd. Major General S. K. Thirunavukarusu.

As part of these commemorative events, an Overnight Pirith Chanting Ceremony was successfully organized on 23rd December 2025 by the ITUM Staff Welfare Society in collaboration with the NDT Student Union. The ceremony was conducted with great devotion and reverence, bringing together staff and students in a spiritually uplifting environment.

A total of 12 members of the Maha Sangha were invited to perform the Pirith chanting. Throughout the night, they were respectfully attended to with gilanpasa, ensuring their comfort and well-being. The following morning, on 24th December 2025, an alms-giving (Dana) ceremony was conducted, offering food and Pirikara to the Maha Sangha in accordance with Buddhist traditions.

To facilitate the large number of participants, a Dansala was also organized in front of the Welfare canteen, providing refreshments to those who attended the Pirith ceremony. The event saw the participation of approximately 500 individuals, including both staff members and students, reflecting the unity and collective spirit of the ITUM community.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Maha Sangha invoked blessings and extended their good wishes for the continued success and prosperity of ITUM, its leadership, staff, and students in all future endeavors.

This meaningful event not only honored the 25-year journey of ITUM but also strengthened the sense of harmony, gratitude, and spiritual connection within the institution.
