Certificate Awarding Ceremony 2025/2026


The Division of Interdisciplinary Studies proudly hosted the Certificate Awarding Ceremony on 1st August 2026, celebrating the achievements of students across three study programmes. The event was graced by the Head of the Division, academic staff members of DIS, visiting staff, non-academic staff, students and parents creating a vibrant atmosphere.

Diploma in English

Twenty-one who successfully completed the one-year Diploma in English were awarded certificates with credit, merit, and distinction passes. Initiated by Dr. (Mrs.) P.B.T.K. Premarathne, this comprehensive programme comprises eight modules designed to strengthen communication, reading, writing, listening, and presentation skills. The course attracted a diverse cohort, including undergraduates from other universities, school leavers, and private sector employees.

Certificate Course in Spoken English – Intake 09

Thirty students received certificates for the Certificate Course in Spoken English, a programme crafted to build confidence and fluency through engaging, activity‑based learning. The highlight of the ceremony was their Final Day Variety Entertainment – Speak Fest: Voices in the Spotlight, which added colour, creativity, and youthful energy to the event.

Online Short Course in Basic Data Analysis with R

Participants who completed the Online Short Course in Basic Data Analysis with R (English Medium), coordinated by Dr. (Mrs.) S.C. Mathuagma, were also awarded certificates. The porgramme equipped the participants with fundamental data analysis skills using the open-source statistical software R. The course covered data visualization, descriptive statistics, probability distributions, sampling distributions, and hypothesis testing. The participants comprised research scholars, school leavers, undergraduate students, and industry professionals.
