The Safety Committee of ITUM planned to implement an Emergency Response Plan at ITUM according to a novel concept of Director Major General (Rtd.) S K Thirunavukarusu to act on any emergency case that occurs within the Institute. As the initial step, a two day Fire training session was successfully conducted by ITUM Safety Committee on 20th & 22nd of July 2021. On day one the Head of the ITUM Safety committee Mr. GG Jayarathne conducted an awareness program (organized by the Division of Maritime Studies) via zoom and Physical platforms. Since the theoretical knowledge was given through the awareness program, on the second day the Chief Training Officer of Fire Brigade Mr.Gamini Galagamage conducted a comprehensive Firefighting hands-on practical session for the academic and non-academic staff members.
