The Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa (ITUM), hosted a grand scale Sports Meet in July 2023, guided by the Director of ITUM, Major General (Rtd.) S. K. Thirunavukarasu RSP VSV USP, and the Head of the Division of Interdisciplinary Studies Dr. (Mrs.) D.D.G.A.D.S. Saparamadu. The event became a showcase of the students' exceptional talents and unwavering spirit and it was led by Ms. Shalini Dissanayake, Lecturer in charge of sports studies, and supported by dedicated sports instructors Mr. Yasiru Wijesinghe, Mr. Champika Prageeth and Mr. S.M. Safraan. The Aesthetic lecturer in charge Mrs. Lakni Kumarasiri contributed to a glamorous cultural event at the opening ceremony. The students demonstrated their dedication, and teamwork throughout the sports meet.

This magnificent event began with a captivating opening ceremony at Diygama Mahinda Rajapaksha International Stadium, with the participation of Eng. Chanaka Wanniarachchi as the chief guest. The sports meet spanned a week and students have engaged with a variety of sports. The closing was concluded with the participation of the Acting Director of the Physical Education Division University of Moratuwa, Mr. G.L. Wijesooriya as the chief guest and Eng. Kusuminda Bandara as a special guest.

Champions emerged from various divisions, showcasing exemplary skills. The Maritime Division triumphed in Men's Cricket, Textile Division in Men's Badminton, Electronic and Telecommunication Division in Women's Volleyball, Women's Badminton, and Women's Athletics. The Civil Division excelled in Men's Football, Athletic Men's, Mixed Netball, and Women's Table Tennis. The Information Technology Division secured Men's Table Tennis. Active participation from students and staff fostered a vibrant and inclusive spirit. Financial support from past sports students of the 2011 NDT batch made the event possible. The ITUM Sports Meet left an indelible mark in history.
