Industry Day 2025 was successfully held on 17th September 2025 at the Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa (ITUM). The event served as a valuable platform for industry experts, the Division of Information Technology at ITUM, and students to engage in meaningful discussions on the future of education, training, and industry collaboration.

The day was structured into two main sessions a Morning Industry Discussion Forum and an Evening Tech Mentoring Session, both of which drew strong participation and generated insightful outcomes.

Morning Session – Industry Discussion Forum

The morning session featured an Industry Discussion Forum with 32 participants from ITUM’s Industrial Training Unit, 14 industry representatives, and divisional staff members from the institute’s IT division.

The session was designed around four mini-discussions, each focused on a critical area of affected for education

  1. Curriculum Revamp – Participants discussed content revisions, strategies to align NDT in IT curriculum with evolving industry needs, ensuring students gain relevant and future-ready skills.
  2. Future Paths for Students – Industry experts shared insights into emerging career opportunities and skill sets that graduates should develop.
  3. Training for Tomorrow – The discussion highlighted innovative approaches to industrial training and internship programs to better prepare students for real-world challenges.
  4. Industry–Institute Collaboration – Participants explored ways to strengthen long-term partnerships, create joint research opportunities, and foster a sustainable industry–academic ecosystem.

The interactive nature of the forum encouraged active participation and generated a number of actionable takeaways to shape NDT in IT future academic and training initiatives.

Evening Session – Tech Mentoring Zones

The evening session transformed the venue into Tech Mentoring Zones with 14 individual booths, each manned by industry representatives. This setup provided students with the unique opportunity to engage in one-on-one mentoring conversations with industry experts.

Students were able to ask direct questions, seek guidance on career paths, internships, and industry expectations, and receive advice tailored to their aspirations. This free and open discussion format created a relaxed yet highly impactful environment, empowering students with clarity and confidence about their future choices.
