Division of Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Technology

The NDT course in Electrical & Electronics Engineering Technology is geared to meet the needs of the industry and thus the graduated diploma holders will have to play an important role in forming a link between the engineers and the rest of the workforce in the industry.

Because of the innovative nature associated with the Electrical / Electronics / Telecommunication fields, the division has incorporated revised targets and objectives into its revised curriculum. The newly revised curriculum has included additional subjects to address the new trends in the modern industry in the fields of electrical, electronics, telecommunication and industrial control system. And the annual student intake of this program is 200 with 100 students for each diploma program.

Electrical Engineering Technology focuses on construction, installation, maintenance and control of power systems, motors, drives, related equipment, etc. On the other hand, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Technology focuses on design, maintenance, control of Electronic Systems and Devices, Telecommunication Systems, related equipment, etc.

The 3-year full-time diploma is chunked into 6 semesters. It has its academic activities at the ITUM during the first two years -  as 4 semesters. The third year is the 5th and 6th semesters during which the students are exposed to industrial training.

The 1st year focuses on the theoretical subjects where the students are expected to gain a thorough knowledge in the fundamental principles of engineering. The students are also facilitated to study the basics of the fields of electrical and electronic engineering technology during these two semesters.

During the 3rd semester the program is targeted for the students to become more aware of the field related knowledge and applications, while the 4th semester is to facilitate them to be more conversant on the field related applications. The culmination of the learning is showcased through two modules allocated for group projects each during the semesters 3 and 4.

In addition to the core subjects the Division offers modules for various other fields such as Applied Sciences, Electro-Technology, Applied Electricity and Electro-Technology I.

Students will be taught through combination of interactive lectures, tutorials, laboratory practical activities, projects, workshops, field visits, etc. Students will be assessed through various continuous assessments strategies and/or final examination.

There are many opportunities for well-qualified diploma holders to enjoy stimulating and rewarding careers. Both engineering technology diploma holders will be equipped with the knowledge and skills they needed to succeed in their career.

Our students will be able to work in a variety of fields and industries, such as power generation, distribution & control, electronics & automation, telecommunications, process & manufacturing, transportation, construction, IT networks, intelligent building systems and etc.

Once they have successfully completed their diploma, they can choose to either seek employment in their chosen area, or further their studies. There are several avenues to continue higher studies:
•    OUSL
•    IESL
•    IIESL
•    Other private universities
